The internet is fully loaded with the comeback of Plymouth Barracuda 2027 model. Being a fan of the muscle car and having heard lots of Plymouth from elder peoples in my as well as my friend’s family. i am really excited to see it after being discontinued in 1974.
I have seen many AI produced Barracuda concepts, renders, and speculative videos i wonder what’s the reality and I’ve decided to provide my analysis on the speculation surrounding the Barracuda from its expected style, its modeled expected stats, to my thoughts if it will actually be produced.
What do i expect from 2027 Plymouth Barracuda?

Let’s be realistic from the start: i believe if Stellantis approves a 2027 Barracuda, the odds of returning the whole brand are very low. instead, it is likely to see a premium, low-volume specialty trim or some type of companion model to the redesigned Dodge Charger.
I’m not going to lie, the online concepts for a 2027 Barracuda are some of the coolest I have ever seen. The fusion of modern design and vintage Plymouth elements combined with the incorporation of modern aerodynamics is unbelievable but they are just concepts not reality.
Expected Powertrain Options

The legendary Barracuda were known for its muscle power, with its legendary engines like the 440 Super Commando and the infamous 426 Hemi it gained significant attention till date. if 2027 model comes to life then we can expect modern engines.
Twin-Turbo “Hurricane” Inline-6
I really want to see a Stellantis’s 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged “Hurricane” inline-six engine as a succesor for the for the legendary nameplate if it ever comes back.
- Standard Output: Anticipated to be around 420 horsepower.
- High Output (HO): Customized to throw 550 horsepower. Due to their inherent balance of secondary engine vibrations, inline-sixes are smoother. I’d say this would become a fierce, extremely tunable, track-oriented ride that I’d hella love to cruise around in.
Next Gen V8 or High performance EV
While part of me holds out hope for a final, supercharged V8 variant pushing north of 700 horsepower, I suggest we should also prepare ourselves for an all-electric or plug-in hybrid performance setup. I think Stellantis’s STLA Large platform is fully capable of housing dual electric motors producing 600+ horsepower.
Exterior Design Expectations
- The Front Fascia: I really like that the concept designs focus on the classic style from 1970–1971 Third Generations. I think we’d see a very recessed, split front grille that would be flanked by much more aggressive, round LED halo headlights.
- The Silhouette: I’ve always preferred a long-hood, short-deck proportion strategy. I think sharp “Coke-bottle” side contours that honor the original lines but it will have modern twist like flush door handles and carbon-fiber splitters.
- The “Shaker” Nod: I wanted to see a functional cold-air intake bubble protruding directly through the hood. To me, you can’t have a ‘Cuda without a nod to the legendary “Shaker” hoods.
- The Rear End: I suggest a full-width rear light bar housing recessed, modular LED taillights, finished with an integrated ducktail spoiler to tie the whole retro look together.
Reality Check
The 2027 Plymouth Barracuda on paper or in AI concept has many people’s attention but the reality is neither Stellantis or Barracuda has officially announced this.
Currently, we haven’t seen or heard a peep about the return of the Barracuda. All 2027 digital Barracuda “reveals” are independent digital renders or AI-generated images. Personally, I do believe the hype can create a real product.
Maybe a “Barracuda Edition” Dodge would be within the realm of possibilities if we make noise about it.
