I have been a long-time truck lover. So, of course, I have been interested in General Motors’ full-size Next-Gen Full-size trucks. Last time, we saw the more anticipated 2027 Chevy Silverado High Country in February, it was totally covered in a heavy black tarp. I was dying to see the true lines of this truck.
We were just given the opportunity to see the prototype, finally, for a truck under heavy camo, but this time, it has skin-tight. This allows us to see a completely uncovered and clear prototype for the Chevy flagship truck, Chevys luxury truck.

2027 Chevy Silverado High Country Front Design
The intense front-end camouflage has been removed to show the front lighting structure that resembles the recent patent office sketches.
- Newly designed Split-Light Layout: For the 2022 Silverado, GM has adopted the modern and uniform design for their fleet that we’ve seen on the updated Tahoe and Suburban. The thin, horizontal light at the top that illuminates as the daylight running light and the turn signal has the headlights vertically positioned below.
- My opinion: For me, I think that the new design gives the truck a more aggressive and menacing front-end, and is a better design than the current model. The current models tend to look a little blocky, but this new front design with the split lighting looks sharp and beautiful.
- The High Country Grille: The Camo hides a big design element of the Silverado which is a giant multi-bar grille. A thick upper main bar hides the bowtie and supports the three horizontal slots that are shown. I think you guys should look at this design element when the trucks are officially revealed, it looks big in person.
- What’s new and Modern: There’s a new large radar in the lower center grille. I think that this is evidence that the new GM hands-free Super Cruise is going to be standard on the High Country, which I think is great.
Side Profile of 2027 Chevy Silverado High Country
When I looked at the side profile, the first thing that struck me was the sheet metal. The rear quarter panels and bedsides boast deeper, more prominent sculpting. I think this makes the current Silverado look incredibly plain by comparison.
But the biggest shocker for me? The window trim.
| Feature | My Thoughts on the 2027 High Country Exterior |
|---|---|
| Wheels & Flares | I like the addition of fender flares with the 22s! |
| DLO Window Trim | Glossy Piano Black instead of chrome—way cleaner. |
| Step Boards | Extended fixed boards are functional, but I want power. |
| Antenna Setup | Roof fin is gone. Hidden inside the spoiler = smart. |
Instead of bright chrome detailing you typically see on a High Country, this prototype has sleek gloss/piano black finishes on the B-pillars and window trim. Unless Chevy is testing a specific blacked-out edition, It seems they are switching from traditional old-school chrome to modern, more blacked-out detailing. This seems to be a smart move, chrome detailing can seem cheap compared to a modern luxury like piano black.
Rear Design
The end of the truck is also intriguing. The taillights are encased in black tape but show a sharp up and down stack. Maybe they are the new Silverado EV taillights and share the lightning bolt style.
Lower down, there’s a newly sculpted rear bumper with the classic CornerStep cutouts and a fresh quad-tipped exhaust setup. To me, those four exhaust tips signal that GM’s highly anticipated Gen 6 Small Block V8 is alive, well, and ready to rumble under the hood.
There’s also a redesigned sliding rear window frame. I wanted to see a fix for this for a long time, and I suggest Chevy spent a lot of engineering hours making sure this new design permanently resolves the cabin-leak complaints that sometimes plagued the current trucks.
What Excites Me Most
- The Cabin update: Apparently, the curved display will span across the entirety of the dash, along with real open pore wood. That sounds really cool!
- Next-Level Luxury: With full size Panoramic Moonroofs and massaging front seats, Chevy needs these features to compete with the top-tier Ram trucks. Hopefully, these will have massaging seats as well.
- A Streamlined Lineup: As LTZ is rumored to be removed, High Country will be the single cabin Chevy Luxury option.
