I have been a big fan of standard GR Corolla since its release but after looking at the rumored specs about 2026 GRMN Corolla i went complete speechless.
Powertrains Specs & Performance
The G16E-GTS engine in the new GR Corolla makes 300 horsepower. Yes, it is the same engine but it has more torque compared to previous model.
- More Torque: The new GR adds a 302 lb-ft torque rating (7 lb-ft more than the previous model). What’s more interesting with this change is where the torque spread is now. With the new spread, torque is released in the 3,250 to 4,600 RPM range and makes exiting a turn quicker and much more violent.
- Three-Pedal Experience: A good addition to the 2026 GR Corolla was the option to get an 8-speed automatic. The good news is the GRMN is also having this option. Also note that the, Toyota is keeping the close-ratio 6-speed with auto rev-matching.
- Track Ready: Toyota giving a driver-activated intercooler with a sub-radiator and an intercooler spray system means if you plan to lap this car in the Summer you will thank them for this cooling system.
Exterior Material & Aerodynamics
Lets talk about the aggressive look about the 2026 GRMN Corolla. The front fenders and the entire hood are made from lightweight carbon fiber. My favorite changes here are the horizontal air duct cut right into the hood. It really looks cool, and gives a raw, motorsport inspiration as well as pulling heat right out.
In the rear, we see a massive, multi-position carbon fiber rear wing dominating the view. It offers 5 degrees of manual adjustment.

This is where the 2026 Toyota GRMN Corolla stands apart from the hot hatches. For added stiffness, An additional 13.9 meters of structural adhesive has been added to the frame. I think it will give the GRMN a more responsive feel to sharp changes in direction.
The Dampers: Toyota has replaced their old shocks with the specialized GRMN monotube dampers. This is going to provide smooth handling in the rough mid-corner bumps.
The Footwear: I am a fan of the 10 spoke 18 inch, matte bronze, forged aluminum wheels of 2026 GRMN Corolla. They are also offering ultra-sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires but let me tell you that you will need to replace them more often if you are planning to take on track.
Cockpit Design
Instead of rear seats, you look through the rearview mirror and see massive structural bracing. Up front, you’re held firmly in place by GRMN-exclusive semi-bucket sport seats upholstered in black and red suede.
I personally think the choice to use flocked, matte materials on the dashboard is genius because it completely cuts out track glare.
