Nothing Phone 3A Lite Review: Budget Glow-Up or Glyph Letdown?

The Nothing Phone 3A and 3A Pro remain two of my top mid-range picks for 2025 smartphones. They have been my top choice for someone looking to buy smartphone in 25,000 to 35,000 budget. But yesterday, Nothing has dropped bomb on us with the launch of Nothing Phone 3A Lite. As name suggest it is the lower end phone of 3A & 3A Pro version. In europe it is priced at £249 so expected price in the india is around 26,000 rupees.

Design & Looks

Nothing Phone 3A Lite Design & Look
Nothing Phone 3A Lite Design & Look

Starting with looks, the Nothing Phone 3A Lite sports a 6.77-inch display that feels larger due to chunky but symmetrical bezels. At 199g, it’s lightweight—not a brick in your pocket. Nothing equips it with Panda Glass on front and back, paired with a matte aluminum frame that resists fingerprints and smudges during extended use.

The transparent rear echoes the 3A series, but that’s where similarities end. The design diverges significantly across the lineup. My heart still belongs to the original 3A’s symmetrical vibe, tiny camera bump, and lush blue finish (unavailable here).

The Lite sticks to black or white options—disappointing for variety seekers. Its camera lenses are awkwardly clustered in one corner, reminiscent of the polarizing Nothing Phone 3, often roasted online as “different” at best or design heresy at worst. Reddit users echo this: it looks like something’s absent, and they’re spot on.

Now you must be asking me since this is a Lite version what changes or what design cues are removed from this. then let me tell you, The iconic triple Glyph LED lights from the 3A and Pro. Replaced by a single, underwhelming LED in the bottom corner, it’s more firefly flicker than party mode.

Also this is IP54 rated compared to 3A’s IP164 rating, which means it will be dust proof but not water submersible.

Software and Everyday Features

Unlocking is straightforward with an in-display optical fingerprint sensor at the display’s lower edge. It’s reliable unless your fingers are sweaty, though I’d prefer it higher for ergonomics.

Boot up, and you’re in Nothing OS 3.5 on Android 15—not the bleeding-edge Android 16, which arrives in early 2026. Nothing promises six years of security updates (impressive for budget tier) but only three major OS upgrades, landing at Android 18.

It has storage option of 128GB or 256GB base along with external SD card slot with the support upto 1tb.

Nothing OS shines as a near-stock Android experience with extras like a discovery feed, AI-sorted app tray, and customizable control center. Setup lets you pick stylized dot-matrix icons or a clean stock look. Features abound: always-on display, icon packs, lock screen tweaks. The Essential Key on the right edge (below the power button) captures screenshots with notes or voice memos.

Double-tap to access Essential Space, where AI extracts details from captures (e.g., castle entry fees via Google Maps integration). It’s like Pixel’s screenshot smarts or Oppo’s Mind Space but less searchable. Can’t remap the key, which is a nitpick.

Display

Nothing phone 3a Lite features 6.77-inch AMOLED display just like 3a. You will get Full HD+ (2392×1080) resolution which feels extremely sharp and for all your viewing stuff. However, it does lack HDR but you get color tweaks like vivid and standard. It has got 120Hz refresh rate for smoothness and 2160Hz PWM for easing OLED flickering.

Gaming Performance

Ditching the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 for a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro (same as the CMF Phone 2 Pro) keeps costs low without total disaster. 5G and Wi-Fi 6 are on board, with smooth daily tasks. Camera app lag and mode switches can stutter, and Bluetooth audio hitches if snapping photos mid-stream.

However, despite all of this, the gaming chops of the Nothing Phone 3A Lite are actually pretty decent. Certainly for a budget phone. The likes of Wuthering Waves are slow to load, but this memory-slurping game can actually be run on the regular graphics settings with a decent enough frame rate to keep it playable.

you got a simple coolant system stuffed in the Nothing Phone 3A Light as well. A little bit of liquid coolant as well as some graphite layers to help keep all that hot air moving along. And this does work a treat. I found that even after an hour of Wuthering Waves, it was only just getting fairly warm. Certainly not to a finger-burnie degree.

Battery and Charging

Nothing Phone 3a Lite has got 5,000mAh battery which is optimized for their OS to deliver longer 7-hours of daily screen time. You can expect BGMI/PUBG about 5.5-6 hours longer gameplay so that also a good point but you have to run on medium graphics. Charging capabilities are not that good, you will need at least 70 minutes to fully charge with wired 33W charger. Also, i have to mention here is that there is no wireless support given here.

Camera Breakdown

It has got 50MP Samsung sensor along with 1/1.57-inch of camera size. There is dedicated 8MP ultrawide camera for ultrawide shots. Daylight shots are little oversaturated but you can adjust on the editing app so no worry their.

Video capturing can be done in 4K/30fps or 1080p/60fps (120fps slo-mo) so you get smoother video capturing quality.

For selfies, you get 16 megapixel downgraded from 32MP of 3a. And has got 1080p/30-60fps suitable for the vlogs and video calls.
